Entry 99

Synopsis: The tradition of keeping Durban was well known custom during the reign of Rajas and Maharajas of Mughal Period. Durban represents a person who welcomes the world with the positive attitude. During the period it was the duty of Darban to welcome the people in the Raja’s assembly by singing their laurels and accolades to pay them homage. But with the changing times, positions, and respect that Darban use to hold has deteriorated. Now-a-days keeping a well dressed man out of gate has become a fashion regardless of the importance he use to earn earlier. In the present one will not find them in their traditional rajsi dresses in which they used to present themselves. This documentary examines few questions related to the life of a Darban. For example, how he performs his duty? What situation forced them to be Darban? Does he feel proud to be Darban?
