Entry

Synopsis: This is a regional film folk performance popular in West Bengal. It is a composite performance comprising acting, dancing, singing, recitation. The main attraction of the Alkap performance is the young men called Chokras who dance, dressed as girls and are quite expert in performing the salacious dance called Khemta. Today’s younger generation make fun of it. At least, when TV has reached the remotest village, the popularity of Aklap has decreased and it is on its way to extension.
